The History of Laborde Marine Lifts, Inc.

Laborde Marine Lifts, a Louisiana Corporation, chartered in May of 1996 by John P. Laborde, started with the acquisition of two liftboats, a 105’ class vessel, the LabLift I and 145’class vessel, the LabLift II.

John P. Laborde as owner, began his career in the marine charter business as an originator of Tidewater, Inc. the largest offshore service marine company in the world. John P. Laborde served as Tidewater's past Chairman, CEO, and President since its inception in 1956 until his retirement in 1994.

In February 1998, LML received delivery of its newly constructed 175’ class liftboat, the LabLift III. The LabLift III is the only US Coast Guard subchapter "L" class and ABS class vessel in the Gulf of Mexico equipped with the RAM 100 ton crane. Recently, July 2001, the company received delivery of its fourth fleet vessel, the LabLift IV a 200' Class vessel which has Lloyd load line and class.

Gary L. Laborde, who worked with Amoco Production for ten years, manages LML. After that, Mr. Gary L. Laborde practiced Maritime Law for seven years. Mr. Gary L. Laborde is the current president of Laborde Marine Lifts, Inc. with John P. Laborde serving as CEO. Another son, John Peter Laborde, Jr. whose prior work experience is 15 years with Tidewater as their Division Manager for the Gulf of Mexico, serves as Vice President of the company.
